Undermountain designs and hand builds fine ukuleles and guitars. We make all sizes of ukuleles from Soprano to Baritone. We focus on smaller guitars including parlor and OM styles. All of our custom instruments are expertly finished using the French polish method and include a hard case.

Undermountain offers a broad range of exotic and locally-sourced tonewood for our instruments. Typically available stock includes East Indian Rosewood, Sitka Spruce (including torrefied), Quilted and Birdseye Maple, Koa, Mahogany, Walnut, Zebrawood, Granadillo and Cedar, among others.

Additional custom options include secondary side sound ports, radiused fret boards (standard on guitars), bound fret boards, a wide variety of binding and purfling selections, wood and shell rosettes, pickups, inlay, and tuner options.

Ordering

Most of our ukuleles and guitars are built to order. Please contact us with questions or to discuss an instrument design.  Although there is variability in pricing based on multiple options available, ukuleles currently start at $1,400 and guitars at $2,400. From time to time instruments built on “spec” are available directly from Undermountain or from our dealers—please contact us.

After agreeing on the specifications, payment is made as follows:

1/3 to secure the build slot and commit to the order
1/3 once the “box” is closed
  1/3 (plus shipping) upon completion.

Payment may be made via credit card, cash, or personal check and is subject to applicable taxes.
